I saw her underneath the lamplight
Eyes the colour of autumn leaves
Skin the colour of the desert sand
Her beauty was strewn into the starless night....
That is until the lamplight started to flicker
I saw her true face,
It displayed her core.
As the blinding light of the lamplight had vanished-
When nobody could see her face anymore,
Her facade dropped and shattered.
All I could see was a saddened face
It was more like a mask really-
Those that appear either ecstatic or forlorn
She was the latter
Cracked from the outside
And beneath the surface no doubt,
Facade in the daylight
But it all crashes when darkness comes
Of course nobody would ever know,
For the light would quite ironically hide it all,
As the night soaked up all of the pain
A heart of black painted in red
