Animal Series: Sheep - a poem about the blind followers.

Sheep

The sheep obliviously graze on the verdant pastures,

The sheep obliviously graze on the verdant pastures, Mindlessly following the current like a shoal of fish,

The sheep obliviously graze on the verdant pastures, Mindlessly following the current like a shoal of fish, Coaxed into believing in the matrix of raptures,

The sheep obliviously graze on the verdant pastures, Mindlessly following the current like a shoal of fish, Coaxed into believing in the matrix of raptures, To become a mutton delicacy on a wolf’s dish,

Their shepherds have led them astray on the mount,

Their shepherds have led them astray on the mount, These nescient fools follow the leader without cause,

Their shepherds have led them astray on the mount, These nescient fools follow the leader without cause, Rushing to the valley of steel to not miss the count,

Their shepherds have led them astray on the mount, These nescient fools follow the leader without cause, Rushing to the valley of steel to not miss the count, To be slaughtered sequentially for obeying the laws,

TAKE HEED You who lack capacity for personal thought

TAKE HEED You are led by the wolf in sheep’s clothing,

TAKE HEED For your vote and voice counts for naught,

TAKE HEED Useful idiots whose lives are worth nothing,

The shepherds have created a masterful fallacy of bliss,

The shepherds have created a masterful fallacy of bliss, And the dawn of the dystopia approaches with no remiss.

Thank you for taking the time to read this political commentary, the last of my Animal Series, which addresses the Dogs (the greedy capitalists), the Pigs (the corrupt politicians) and the Sheep (the blind followers).

Whilst it might seem like a tedious and/or strident message, and I have in fact related humans to basic forms of domestic animals, this is only an allegorical effort to highlight some of the problems of our society.
