The doors screech as if to wake the dead,
But I can't hear them under the sound of my own sobs and groans.
My heart is feral, trying to break its cage,
And the light has left the room like a coward.
The clock strikes 12, and I know my time is running out.
I turn, to find a way to escape like Houdini
But I see my reflection,
And realize the monster is me.
