PART 9 OF THE PREQUEL TO ELECTRA'S STORY

FIRE TO ASHES ( A PREQUEL TO ELECTRA'S STORY) PART 9

With that, we travelled backwards in time, the people on the street moving backwards like people in a movie on rewind. When we reached the time I wanted us to reach, I willed for time to stop rewinding.

‘Here we are.’ I whispered to Amory. The sky above was now dark and there were stars out. Scarletta would soon be up there with the stars, I thought sadly ‘Wow. I’ve just gone back in time.’ Amory said, in an exited whisper.

‘Yes you have. I take it you can control technology without touching it ?’ I whispered. ‘Yes. I have practiced well and do so every day in my amazing home. Very clever of me.’Amory whispered back. ‘Very clever indeed. Could you do the great honour of doing that now, unless I say stop?’ I asked quietly.

Amory nodded, looking smug. ‘Brilliant. I will fly up to the window and listen in to them. The window is open, so that should be easy. I will wave at you if I want you to stop. Just make sure they cannot access their emails.’ I say. ‘Received and understood. ‘Amory replied.

‘Excellent.’ I say, before flying up to the window. Invisible and unseen, I listened carefully to the voices at the window. ‘I wonder how Scarletta is doing?’ Electra asked. I saw her purple hair and a part of Cassandra’s head. They were both sat on Cassandra’s bed, having a sleepover.

I did not hear Cassandra’s telepathic response, but she must have suggested seeing if Scarletta had sent any emails as Electra said. ‘I don’t know, shall we look now?’ She must have said yes, as they both got out their laptops

They switched on their computers promptly. I took a quick, sharp intake of breath. This was okay....so long as they couldn’t log on to their emails. But could Amory be so specific? Soon, I will find that out.... ‘What’s going on? I can’t log on to my emails’ Electra muttered. Again, I didn’t hear Cassandra’s response, but clearly she couldn’t access her emails as Electra said.

‘You can’t either? What is wrong with this system?’ They both paused and clicked a few buttons. ‘No change. I thought closing the tab and logging back on might work.’ Cassandra paused and she must have sent another telepathic message to Electra as Electra nodded.

‘You’re right, it’s no big deal. We’ll just have to look again in the morning. I just wish we had the number of the circus, so we could call her’ she said wistfully, before changing the subject and talking about something else. I was relieved that Electra or Cassandra had not become worried and decided that they would check their emails in the morning.

'I feel like I’m being watched’ Electra muttered, looking towards the window and looking straight at me. My heart beat fast, and for a moment, I forgot that I was invisible. Cassandra grins at Electra and Electra frowns back at her.

‘Stop teasing me about your great aunt Ethel haunting the house. You know I get nightmares about ghosts.’ Electra said, pulling a face at Cassandra. Cassandra pulled a face back, and made another telepathic suggestion

‘You want to tell me ghost stories ? With your telepathy, it will sound all the more creepy !’ Electra replied. Cassandra laughed silently, before sending another message. ‘I prefer that suggestion, Cassandra. Board games, makeovers and delicious food. An entirely off the grid sleepover. For someone with electric powers that is a big change.’

With that, they both turned off their laptops and placed them under the bed.
