The eyes that see through masks As a species we wear them to hide our past scars, as well as broken promises and shattered dreams. We wear them to feel safety and solitude within ourselves to convince us that we are fit for what’s out there in the real world, because if we show weakness and someone sees it, it’s as if our right to call ourselves a human is taken away. Ironically at the same time all these things are reversed, only if someone has a close enough eye they can see the mirror humans put on there face and then that person will see that there are no such things as masks but in fact mirrors are what is worn by the masses of man. When people think they put on a mask they are in fact revealing their darkest fears, their past desires, lost hopes and broken moral. All the scars of the past attempted to be forgotten and put away in the attic, but in fact with a keen eye those things are as visible as day. The keen will see the person for who they are, who they were and possibly if they look hard enough who they yearn to be. Once someone recognizes this a key moment is set into place. A decision must be made. And based on what they chose will decide if they climb the stairs of life everyone else is trying to climb or they will eternally fall into pits of despair until their time comes and then they will be forgotten. As the road ends the masks move onto the next person. Not loyal to the previous wearer. They are forever falling to the next face to falsely hide their darkness. To deceive the next wearer in to a false sense of light, hope, and security. Masks are evil however that does not make humans evil for wearing them. We are simply caught in a hulking ploy created by our own creations. These masks that are each in their own right gods of tricks, are forever being created by our flickering sanity. A sanity that is forevermore in peril of subsiding into the tomb of anguish, affliction and heartbreak. For some that is where they reside, where they inherited the breath of life.
