According to Fars News Agency -- and quoting the Fencing Federation -- local fencing supporter and sponsor Bijan Sarhangpour has organized an International Fencing Tournament today in Isfahan
at Saber Arms.
Fencing Competition
On the first day of the tournament, 53 athletes from four domestic and two foreign teams (Azerbaijan and Iraq) competed in three preliminary and elimination games.
At the end of the first day, in the men's saber guns with the national Olympic Games of Iran, all foreign competitors were eliminated.
In the end, Mohammad Rahbari took the lead in a beautiful and very close game; Ali Pakdaman came in second; and Mohammad Fotouhi and Mojtaba Abedini took third.
The champions of today's competition received $8,000 cash prize from Mr.
Bijan Sarhangpour, father of the late Rouzbeh Sarhangpour and investor in the Iranian International Fencing Academy in Isfahan province, respectively.
The competition continues on October 6 and 7 (Saturday and Sunday) at Flora Arms.
