The mirage

by bernardtwindwil

The mirage

In the desert hot air rises An element of basic science That should not offer surprises A Newtonian guaranteed reliance

The mirage

The blue mountains and the blue sky Reflected from the shimmering heat Appear like water to the eye Occasion for deadly deceit

The mirage

As cool water it disguises How often seen in August heat Desert danger has disguises The greatest danger is conceit

The mirage

Water carry should be compliance Venturing on the alkali Only a fool is in defiance Without fresh water you can die

The mirage

Movie mirages so dramatic Cannot compare to actual thirst You get light headed symptomatic Of all ways to die it's the worst

The mirage

You think you see it but you don't That water will not soothe your throat You think you can make it you won't Your tongue will swell your guts will bloat

The mirage

Keep from the desert my advice If you don't carry fresh water Five gallons a day will suffice Less you'll be lambs to the slaughter
