Munchen...Munich

by bernardtwindwil

Englischer Garten filled with people fully in bloom

Lying in the warm sun on fresh green grass

Children in lederhosen playing with balloons

Young happy picnickers raising the glass

Brass bands in costume play an oompah tune

Garten's bucolic scenes are really world class

My spirit 's infected and over the moon.

I hear the cracks I know that tragic note, alas

Bodies punctured, bloody and awkwardly strewn

On such a day how could anyone be so crass

From senseless slaughter why naren't we immune

Why with violent evil are we at an impasse

Love this. The sudden transition from the peace and calm to the shooting displays how it was. Sudden.

@bernardtwindwil Very true. Btw, you should make a post of only your comments, they're poetic enough for that.

@erofaer These kinds of tragedies, one after another, make you not want to go to sleep. Or you develop a ritual for good luck because they are so horrifying. These victims were not armed soldiers engaged in war. They were you and me and our friends just having a good time.

Wow I didn't even know what happened. I just woke up, read this and typed Munich into the news. Same with the coup in ankara, I woke up with messages from friends asking if I was alright. Then when I opened the curtain I saw a jet flying around. It's strange how everyday I wake up to more terrible news somewhere in the world.

@george I am not a poet. I am a story teller. I tried to show the juxtaposition that terror becomes in a civil society.
