This may or may not be flash fiction. It is according to some samples I have read. It has a sci-fi theme. International radio protocol has the calling station say who they are calling too followed by their identity. The receiving station replies by stating their identity and then the original caller's identity. The words pan-pan repeated three times indicate we are sinking, on fire, or have a fatal malfunction. When a pan=pan call loses communication it is usually disastrous.

Following the simultaneous bright flash and a loud thump, the ship shook so hard I had to take manual control. ST 1 this is T-1-6-3 pan-pan...pan-pan...pan-pan ov.. T-1-6.....crackle...zzzh....

@therinamartins @sydney Thank you. You don't know how tortuously difficult it was for me to limit my verbosity.

@johnchang @michaelschulze You guys got it. I remember a few pilots losing commo mid sentence. Always with catastrophic results. Tragedy was my inspiration.

It almost seems as if you're flash into fiction ended in a crash landing LOL

Outside of flight training, I haven't really heard "pan pan" used. It's just a notch better than "mayday mayday" - there's still hope, but if it cuts off, that's not a good sign!
