In Texas the full moon was dreaded and called the Comanche Moon. The Comanche loved to raid at night when they could see by its light.

Comanche Moon

by bernardtwindwil

The moonlight was enough to spread fright Madly charging spreading terror in the night From the backs of Spanish stallions we alight

Killing cursed settlers who stole our land Horses and slaves for the Antelope band Easy to see and ride our raids planned

A settler here and there scalped ravaged Leaving their cabins in flame or damaged The Texans dead broken and bandaged

The Lipan Apache and Tonkawa we banish Astride our puukus brought by the Spanish Infamy or death before we simply vanish
