Kayd walked into the class, looking exhausted as ever. His blond hair was a charming ruffled mess, and eyes exhausted.
The first thing he did was look at Theo and ask, "Where's my human?" Confused, he pointed at me from across the class. Great, I was known as 'Kayd's human'. Could be worse.
My boyfriend stumbled over to me, looking like a clumsy, sleep deprived puppy. (He's a golden retriever) "Hi babe." He didn't hesitate to slide his arms around me, enveloping me in a hug.
Kayd buried his head into my shoulder, and let out a sigh longer then how reading this must feel. "Hey." I tried to keep my voice as quiet as his, knowing what had happened.
It was either he couldn't finish his math assignment, or he went out partying and was hungover. Last time I had joked about that, he looked purely offended and demanded, "Without you?! Never!" ...he's so fucking wholesome it's hilarious.
I wrapped one arm around him, and rested my hand on his fluffy blond head. He mumbled softly, closing his eyes and curling into me. "I hate my fucking brain. I really, really hate my fucking brain."
I quietly stole the heat coming off of his body, threading my fingers through his soft hair. When it came to my boyfriend's messy blond locks, I was like a cat playing with yarn.
He hugged me tighter, still not looking up. Of course, Kayden was wearing my sweatshirt. "I wouldn't change a thing about it." He sighed again, and I gently kissed the side of his head. I hated seeing him like this, even if he was keeping me warm while it was freezing inside.
Obviously, he smelled like coffee. I knew his order by heart, black with two sugars and no milk. Once before we had started dating, me and Kayd went to the cafe.
Raven and him had broken up, but it was too early to drink so we were getting coffees. Ignoring the urge to kiss his cheek (Pink from the cold) I ordered our drinks, and paid.
He stopped dead in his rant to ask, "...you know my order?" Kayd looked like someone had just told him two plus two was three. I laughed, "Yeah, of course I do." "Well, I love that brain."
I whispered, doing my best to be comforting while not causing a scene. When you share a class with Frey, who's still pining over Kayd, it's best to not. He muttered, "I love you too.
I just wish it wasn't so fucking stupid." I rolled my eyes, pulling away from him. He looked at me in confusion, I could practically see 'I wasn't done cuddling' written on his pale face. "No. You're bad at math, but you're not stupid." I mean, he is an idiot, but it's okay 'cause he's MY idiot.
Playfully shoving him in the ribs, and smiling up at him, I didn't even pretend to not understand. Kayd had a bundle of learning disabilities, and they had made academics hard for him since we were kids. Sometimes he would leave class with tears in his eyes.
Some days, he flew through school without a problem, but others...it really messed with his head, and being able to solve a math problem became a question of intelligence and not comprehension. When things got to be too much, I would meet him outside the classroom, and we would find an empty room.
Rolling his sapphire eyes, Kayd stated, "Well I mean I must be dumb if I'm dating you-" A gentle hit over the head was all it took for him to smile. "I'm kidding! Relax."
I scoffed, "You better be because I thought dating you was a smart choice." "Oh." Kayd smirked, snaking his hands around my waist. "It was." "That grin doesn't look innocent."
"And if it's not?" He raised an eye, sliding his hands onto my waist and giving me the 'Whatcha gonna do about it?" look. I almost laughed at his attempt to flirt...but, like I could do any better. "Well then we'll just have to-" And the bell rang, class started.
