Of a bond between two lovers. Poem 2 of NaPoWriMo. Thank you for reading!

My love, my sun

Perhaps it was meant to be, my love, that we would find our way back to one another after years of failing to discover what we first saw in each other— that is,

the other side of our own reflections, yours mirrored on me, and mine mirrored on you— in others with whom we tried playing the same intimacy that threads through my soul and into yours.

My love, you have not forgotten me, nor I you. When I look upon you, I burn from the tips of my toes to the roots of my hair;

My love, you have not forgotten me, nor I you. When I look upon you, I burn from the tips of my toes to the roots of my hair; when I gaze at you, I smolder, I crackle from the heat that radiates off your skin and which sears mine

My love, you have not forgotten me, nor I you. When I look upon you, I burn from the tips of my toes to the roots of my hair; when I gaze at you, I smolder, I crackle from the heat that radiates off your skin and which sears mine no matter the distance put between us.

I see it in your eyes, my love, the very flames that flare within me, liable to rise in the midst of winds that hope to whip us apart.

You are my everlasting sun, my love; I feel your brilliance behind my closed lids, ever bright, ever shining, and even in your shadows I find solace for they are born of you,

You are my everlasting sun, my love; I feel your brilliance behind my closed lids, ever bright, ever shining, and even in your shadows I find solace for they are born of you, and you in your perfect imperfection I adore and desire above anyone else.

I would let you consume me, my heart, and leave nothing but ashes— for even in ashes my love will not be gone, for from ashes comes life,

I would let you consume me, my heart, and leave nothing but ashes— for even in ashes my love will not be gone, for from ashes comes life, and my life — my love and my heart — you have long known to be yours.
