I've never asked an old man why- a poem.

by ashleyciera

i've never asked an old man why on a dark and dismal day why even though the sun has gone his eyes still shine with light. we go through life with closed eyes and they open as we age

and we see the world for what it is through our eyes, or through our hearts. the old man may tell me he still sees the sun even though it's tucked away

and that may be why his eyes shine so bright for he has the sun in his heart.

A beautiful poem touching on themes of enlightenment with age, and that those who've lived to see the sun rise and fall, hold out knowing that they'll see it all again.
