falling asleep on the phone

by ashleyciera

only here and there i can hear your breaths and the echo of my ambience through your phone i'd wince at every footstep, and too-loud-breath of my own because i don't want to wake you

and all the ice water in the world couldn't compensate for the chills i get when you wake up and call my name i imagine your hair sprawled out in a curly pile spread like waves

and oh how i'd love to reach through the phone and touch your curls between my thumb and my forefinger but for now i'll lay here and listen to you living and dream about the day we won't be apart
