I’m sitting in the bottom of a lake, darkness all around. My thoughts swimming around my head in the water. My thoughts are fighting with each other and all they do is get themselves more and more tangled. In the dark I’m doing my best to help them. I swim around trying to untangles the mess they made but I need air soon. Once I swim to the top of the water I find myself in the middle of two shores. Where will I go? Where should I go? On one shore is the life I know. But there’s a thunderstorm that never lets up overhead. It looks like it might stop soon, but I don’t know how long the skies will stay clear after. On the other shore is a completely different life than what I know. There’s a thick fog covering the beach. I can see where the sand meets the water so I know it’s there. The rest is a complete mystery to me though. I don’t know what that shore holds for me. So which one do I swim to? I must choose soon, time is running low. Do I pick the place I know with the everlasting storm? Or do I swim to the unfamiliar shore and hope they survive the monsoon? You say the storm shall pass, but how do you know? No matter how many sacrifices we’ve made, no matter how many rain dances we preform, the storm is still raging on. But the unknown shore is terrifying, no matter how I think about it. Will it be better, or will the fog be as bad as the storm that I know?
