Annabeth and Percy sat next to each other, exhausted by the battle... but at long last, it was all over.
They had defeated Kronos thanks to Annabeth finally understanding what the prophecy's true meaning had always been, and though it came at a great cost, it had finally come to an end.
Percy gave Annabeth a silent look, and finally gathered the courage to speak up:
"I always thought you loved Luke"
Annabeth nodded, looking up at Percy.
"I loved him, Percy, very much so"
"I mean... As more than a brother"
"Ah" Annabeth replied, bitting her lower lip, and finally shaking her head. "No, not like that. Never like that. I... Love someone else that way, Percy"
He gave her a wide-eyed look, and gulped silently. Taking a deep breath, Percy dared take her hand carefully.
"Who is it?"
"You really are as stupid as you seem, aren't you, seaweed head?"
She asked, giving him a tired, yet relieved smile. Finally, after all this time, she could admit it out loud. "You. I love you."
Percy's smile grew wide, as he leaned into her, squeezing her hand tenderly.
"I love you too, Annabeth. I always have"
Percy leaned in further and kissed Annabeth passionately, pleased by the fact that they finally dared admit their feelings for one another.
