A human crisis and divide a pandemic brought about. Exposing human plight and desperation . A solution to which is no where to be found

NATION IN HIBERNATION

Coffee in hand On a comforting couch Reaching for remote Evening news is on

Migrant crisis headlines People in misery Government blamed No one cares Finger pointing Debating without end Politics on display Solution unseen

Divide lay bare A new Stone Age Man at nature’s mercy To hunt and survive Unknowingly Even I pick a side Search for answers That could reason

I feel anger I feel hate How could this be? In a democracy Put ink on paper Scribbling in despair Emotions overtake Seeing human plight

Mind wanders Why migrants? Aren’t they our own? Don’t they belong? Blind with hunger Thirsting for water Walking back home Till feet bled

Distraught father’s eyes Reflect child’s anguish Tears in silence Runs down weary cheek Hands that helped Build a nation Held outstretched For an act of kindness

Questioning privileged self Sitting at home Bricks of which they laid Writing about them Pride takes a hike Guilt walks in Head bows down Nation in discord

Doesn’t matter How I feel What I see What I write Wasteful words Meaningless to them Difference none To their cause

Will never know Unless I am one of them The pain they feel Unimaginable Words come to a halt Walked few steps Thought kickstarts How can I help?

Dinner was served Will skip a meal Now I will know What hunger feels like
