In a corner there stood a trunk with chairs on it. From the chairs hung a blanket to the wall. Under it, in the corner, clutching her knees tight to her sat Moria’s friend and commander.
“Hi there, Saisala.”
“Don’t call me that.” she hissed from between her knees. “Stupid nickname,”
“I know,” Moria let herself fall down in front of the makeshift cave. She sighed and took in the room around them. The newly conquered district had some amazing mansions on it.
Mira, as commander had gotten the best of them, of course.
Just the small sitting room they were in was packed full with golden-edged furniture, crystal glasses,
leather bound books and even the flowers wilting away at the window were worth more on the market than simple coin could pay.
Yet, the one person hailed as fearless, proud and unwavering sat in a makeshift cave, clutching her knees.
“You can’t stay in there. You do know that?” Moria said. “People are waiting for you and your commands.”
“You give them!” came muffled from within.
Moria wiped her face. “They don’t want my commands. They want yours.”
“You’re next in line of command.”
“Yeah, right, as if they’d listen to me. Rotting, pestbringing, undead me. If I weren’t with you…”
“They would still…”
“OH, REPHIS FUCK THE FATEWEAVER, YOU COME OUT THERE!” Moria grabbed Mira’s ankles and with one grunt started to pull.
Mira kept holding onto the trunk, dragging the entire construction with them. The fragile chair and blanket architecture collapsed and buried the two women.
Yet, Mira kept holding on, and Moria kept pulling.
“They don’t…” she huffed during pulls. “Believe… in… me! They believe…” one final pull and Mira’s finger glided from the trunk. Moria fell back, but managed to grab Mira by the belt and arm.
With just one more pull Mira fell onto the floor next to her. With quick moves, she straddled her commander under her and pointed a finger right between her eyes.
“They! Believe! In! You! You are their commander, you stormed Havenfort, you chased the LS from the lower districts. And now you tell me you can’t hold a speech?”
“No! You will go out there. Do what you know you want to do. No more excuses. Take what you want!”
Mira just nodded and wiggled herself out from under Moria. Her eyes were unsure, undecided and focused on Moria.
“Alright there, commander?” Moria asked.
Mira didn’t answer. Instead she grabbed Morias head and crashed her lips on hers. It was short, but intense and left Moria gaping. “Y-You kissed me!?”
“Take what you want. Your words.” Mira whispered. Then she righted herself up and straightened her uniform. “I’ll get this over with. I don’t… Tej! I don’t know what to say.”
“Just… just be you.” Moria mumbled. “Always works.”
“Ya... “ Mira smiled, that tired but determined little upwards curve of her mouth. “Thanks, Moria.” she breathed and left the room with a few, strong steps.
