Waiting: Love’s Bitterness

by nihilistic-thelemite

Each week, I will see you at least once or twice

But we still are not settled, we are still distant

Living in separate locations, with differing agendas

When I travel to visit, our time is always valued

Even in the many hours we spend doing nothing

Goofing around as though we are carefree youths

It is all so precious, an alleviation of life’s hardship

But the inevitablity of nightfall, when we retire our love

Cuts me to the core each time we part ways

I know we will be in each other’s comfort again soon

But driving home, I never thought I’d be cursing to the moon

And it is upsetting when the feel of a cigarette

Is a temporary substitute for the feeling of your smooth skin

And when you visit me, and we are together in my room

I can still smell your scent so clearly

All across the pillows and the sheets

As though you came to cleanse my abode

I know that someday, we will live side-by-side

But in the meantime, the bitterness of waiting

Remains a crushing weight upon my heart
