So today my mom says, “Learn to speak softly, all the girls should.” And the thing is I know I’m too blunt at times so the first part of the sentence is really fine. But what boils my blood is that she always feels the need to add the second part in. All the time it’s things like, “Sit like a decent girl” or “Don’t open your mouth so wide”.

Where does all this come from? Who decides that girls are decent as long as their posture doesn’t show off their crotch?

Why are there so many assumptions about the way females are supposed to behave? Why is a trait seen as desirable among males become unappealing for girls? What I’m questioning is nothing new.

Yet it’s the 21st century already there are crazy things happening around the world and all we are concerned about is: Prohibiting stuff. Moral Policing.

As long as there is a pleasant facade, society is not concerned about what people actually go through.
