I am a sports coach that teaches multiple sports; Football (soccer, I'm English), Basketball, Tennis & Athletics.
I was teaching in a primary school, a class full of 8 year olds, a basketball class to be precise.
Everything was going smooth and I was interacting with the children and letting them shoot some hoops until I realised there was a young chap that seemed to have his arms in his Polo-shirt.
Obviously for health and safety reasons, I approached him and I quote "can you please remove your arms from your shirt, its dangerous for yourself and others.
" He looked at me blankly, like I had just insulted his Mother.
Obviously, he didnt listen to me, therefore I became a little more stern and threatened to remove him from my class unless he listened to me.
Another young student came over to me and said "Sir, ____ has no arms. Please don't send him out". That Reddit, is when I realised I fucked up.
Following this; I have been contacted by the head coach who's calling me into a meeting next week. F*ck up confirmed.
EDIT 2 -
I had my meeting, it was completely irrelevant to what happened last week. However I confessed my mistake; to which they understood.
They will be talking to the students school with regards to this. I will also personally write an apology to the young child and his parents.
Thank you for all the positive comments and thank you so much for the gold!
Ps - I am not a 12 year old seeking reddit fame, feel free to message me for proof, haha.
