So, I have another INTP in my life and he is like.. textbook INTP. (I adore him very much, because he knows how it’s like to be in my head).
One day we talked about our childhood and how our mothers impacted our emotional behavior..
So my mother is a very very emotionally impulsive person and I am pretty sure this woman never has made a rational decision in her life.
I lived alone with her until I was 18 so of course her behavior had some kind of impact on me, which retrospectively was not healthy for me at all.
(And also we have a much better relationship since I moved out four years ago.
)Anyway my INTP friend never seemed to have this kind of bonkers irrationality to deal with and I asked him what kind of person his mother was,
since he always claimed they were somewhat alike but she doesn’t understand being human AT ALL.
He gave me the following example:(Heads up: in Germany it’s quite common to ask if someone “has a watch” in order to find out what time it is. ..I don’t understand it either).
So INTPs mother is walking down the street and a stranger comes up to her asking if she has a watch and she actually just said “yes” certain she has answered the question in it’s entirety
and then she kept walking, leaving the stranger behind with no knowledge of what time it actually is.
I almost peed my pants when he first told me the story and to this day “yes” is a reasonable answer to this question.
