Well here is an interesting fact about me, my eyes change according to my mood. This isn’t terribly uncommon but I never realized how vibrant or how real it was.

It always seems to be said more jokingly until one day when I was sitting with my younger cousin.

Oh he is a Sweet heart, honest and wild, but a little ball of sunshine. Sometimes I just sit with him and talk.

Well on this day he was playing video games, actually he was playing Monster Hunter 4.

It is best to talk to him then because he has ADHD you see, and if his mind is on two things he talks slower and is more focused.

Anyway, we were joking about things and laughing, when he mentioned his eyes turned grey sometimes.

Still laughing I leaned on the couch and said jokingly, “Really? My brother says my eyes turn purple when I am Mad.”

Then my cousin in all seriousness said, “Oh they do!”

I stared at him blankly, stunned by his recollection and bluntness. “Really?”

“Yep!” And he continues to play his game, very calmly.

“I wasn’t aware I was ever angry at you for you to see that.”

“You weren’t angry at me!” He looked up from his game, “You were just angry. Your eyes are purple when angry, blue when happy, like right now, and grey when sad.”

He then went back to his game leaving the both of us in an awkward silence until he stopped his video game again to say, “It’s actually a little scary.”

That settles it, if a child with ADHD could notice my eyes change so prominently it was true. And apparently scary.

Side note: when my coworkers discovered this one of them wanted to kick me in my twisted ankle to make me angry. 😐
