There's no denying this site has a problem with hive-mind mentality.
The voting system naturally censors unpopular viewpoints, but I believe seeing the current score before voting for yourself compromises the integrity of the individual vote,
leading to more of a band wagon response. Waiting to reveal the current score until after the individual user has cast his would also prompt users to vote more often.
This is good because those votes would naturally push the content in a direction that the users appreciate.
To reiterate (and for easy rebuttal):
1. The votes would become more honest
2. The votes would become more frequent.
