I work at in a ticket/admin office for an arts organization, so it's not a movie theatre per se, but it's like a stage theatre. We're open during "business" hours, so Monday-Friday, 9-5. If people need assistance when we're closed, they can go online or call the venue where our organization performs.

I work at in a ticket/admin office for an arts organization, so it's not a movie theatre per se, but it's like a stage theatre.

We're open during "business" hours, so Monday-Friday, 9-5. If people need assistance when we're closed, they can go online or call the venue where our organization performs.

We had a discount on tickets recently that was announced by a mailing, but some people received it in the mail just before the deadline, or even after the deadline.

We found out that this was the case, so we extended the deadline so people can still take advantage of it. We had a few people that called on the deadline (Friday) after hours.

I just got off the phone with one such person. Right at 9:00 am.

Me: "Hello [organization name], how can I help you?"

Her: "I called at 6:00 on Friday night and you people still have not called me and and that is unacceptable."

Me: "I'm sorry ma'am, but we're actually only open Monday to Friday, 9 to 5."

Her: "I just got this discount in the mail this week, how in the hell am I supposed to get my discount if you don't call me back?!"

Me: "I do apologize for that. We're aware that those hit people's mailboxes a bit later than expected so we are extending that discount."

Her: "You should have called me to tell me that. What is going on over there? You guys are slipping!"

Me: "We were actually just going through the voicemails from the weekend. I'm sorry, we would have called you as soon as we heard your message, I can assure you."

Her: "It is completely unacceptable that you hadn't gotten back to me yet! I called you on FRIDAY and it is Monday.

How is it remotely possible that I call you before you're able to call me back?"

Me: "I'm very sorry ma'am, but you called us after we were closed for the weekend, and called us back right as we were opening. I can assure you we would have been calling you very shortly."

Her: "Someone should have called me back on Friday!!!!"

*click*

So she hung up. Didn't get her discount, doesn't understand how offices work, can't listen to the outgoing voice message that very clearly states our hours of operation.

Ugh Monday.
