Staff moral is low this weekend because of Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Typically we start a movie every two and a half to three hours. This weekend there's a Spider-Man starting every hour. That gives us no breaks.
We have customers from the moment we arrive to the moment we leave. It gives concession no time to restock. It gives ushers no time to clean restrooms and the lobby.
Box office had its own problems. This weekend 3D prices raised to $16 and IMAX 3D to $20. We had a handful of 2D Spider-Man's that sold out online weeks ago.
The vast majority of our screenings were 3D and IMAX 3D and you can picture how thrilled they were when they saw the prices. A family of four watching IMAX is $75.
Count food and they're spending over $100 just to go to the movies on Saturday night.
I don't understand how corporate thinks this makes business sense in the long term. People are just gonna end up staying home and watching Netflix or Amazon Prime.
