The alarm woke him up at midnight.
The dark-haired boy sat in his bed in the middle of the darkness, staring at the small screen in the wall next to the metallic door.
It lit up the same time the alarm started ringing, and he knew what it meant; he’d been listening to that sound for years.
Therefore, he already knew what he was going to hear next.
“A battle has started two hundred meters away from the south gate. Civilians are requested to keep calm,” a female voice spoke, clear and concise, from the screen.
It was a human voice, without any doubt. But it seemed so used to inform about battles and wars, about inhuman violence and countless deaths, that lacked any kind of emotion.
It was as cold as a machine…
Yuuichirou kept looking at the screen until it turned off. The only source of light in the room was a small orange lamp placed above the screen, that would keep glowing until the batle was over.
It was so faint, barely a spark of light in the middle of the blackness. The boy huffed.
