This is my first post which also happens to be on mobile, apologies ahead of time!
So I work at a movie theatre that has an upstairs bar/restaurant. At the bar we have the bar lights that have to be off, always.
(There are other smaller lights so it's not like it's dark or anything).
The only time we turn those specific bar lights on are at the end of the night while closing so the manager can make sure everything is cleaned properly.
I'm manager training at this point and talking to the bartender, just making sure everything is how it needs to be.
I see there is a woman at the bar (she's already been helped and if I'm not personally assisting any customers I kinda keep to myself so I just quickly glanced at her and went back
to checking the bar). I notice the bar lights are on and ask the bartender if he turned them on. He tells me they were on when he got there.
As I make my way over to the lights I mention that they have to be turned off all the time.
I turn them off and out of the corner of my eye I think I see the woman dramatically look up and wave her arm (like "how could you have done this" kinda gesture).
I again don't pay much attention thinking maybe she had just looked up and it wasn't a big deal.
I walk past her to go the the managers office and as I walk past her, she's watching my like a hawk, I hear her whisper under her breath "bitch".
I kinda smile to myself, like really lady? But then I think maybe I just misheard her.
As I make my way back to the bar, the bartender has given the woman her food, and as she leaves she says very loudly to the bartender
"Well thank YOU for leaving the light on for me while I read"
The bartender wasn't sure how to respond to that (he was aware of her calling me a bitch) and just kind of quietly said "uh you're welcome".
As she walked by me I couldn't help but laugh a little. As soon as she was out of ear shot, the bartender and I busted out laughing.
Seriously lady, if you had asked me to leave the light on, I would have left it on for you. But whatevs.
