Gary saw his wife and children in the grassy valley, emblazoned by the soft glowing embers of the evening sun. Walking down the old stone steps, happy memories flooded his mind.
They had always been so happy!
Julia was the oldest, and Lauren had sworn that she would be their last.
But they couldn't resist, and Tim and Edward had been just as cute! Gary tried to pin down exactly how many times in their lives together they had been sad.
For sure they weren't happy thoughts, but he did derive satisfaction from just how few unhappy memories there were.
He ran to approach them, cherishing all that they meant to him, as he held back the last unhappy memory. Gary's love for his family overflowed as he spoke softly to each of them.
But the evening sun had laid down below the trees and the biting wind had made its presence known.
How had things gotten so cold so quickly? Tears and images of the car-crash paraded themselves in front of his eyes as Gary turned back to climb the steps out of the graveyard.
