Jake and Grace had been together for two years. Before they met, Grace had never had someone care about her that much, and Jake had opened her heart and made her feel loved.
They did everything together. They went to the movies, fancy restaurants, the park, and many other places, but sometimes they just liked to hang out and watch tv.
Jake was the most kind-hearted, sweetest person Grace ever met, and he promised never to leave her. There was only one problem; Jake was dying.
One day, as they were sitting on the roof watching the sunset, a tear rolled down his face. "what's wrong", Grace asked.
"This may be one of the last times I get to see you. Remember when I told you I had cancer? The doctor just told me I have three months left to live". Grace started sobbing.
"No, that's not true, it can't be! I love you more than anyone, you can't just leave! You're going to be ok, you can make it"! He smiled sadly.
"I'm sorry, but I won't be ok this time. I will promise you something though. I'll give you a sign that I'm still with you even after I'm gone". She buried her face into his shoulder and wept.
He caressed her hair and told her it would be ok. Jake died later that year and Grace was completely heart-broken. Howver, a few days after his death, Grace noticed something really unusual.
Roses were growing in her backyard.
