Let me preface this by saying that I was in a bad mood today.
This morning I learned that two people quit. That brings our total to 7 people in the last 2 months. We haven't hired any replacements because no one wants to work here.
Our theater has turned into a fast food place. People who work theaters don't wanna do fast food and fast food people would rather stay where they are, they don't need the extra stress.
So anyway, we're severely understaffed even for a slow Monday. I spent my 9 to 5 hopping from box to concession to ushering and repeat.
At around 2-ish this lady comes in with two small children. She asks for tickets to Smashed, that Amy Schumer/Goldie Hawn movie. Normally I'd say, "are you sure? This movie isn't child appropriate.
" But I didn't give a shit and sold her the tickets. She then asks how long the previews are. I provide the answer and she then exits the theater.
I figured she was just gonna roam around until the movie started. About 10 minutes pass and the lady walks in with a large pizza and a 2-liter soda.
I was furious! I walked over to her and said, "ma'am, do I really have to remind you that we don't allow outside food and drinks?
When have you ever seen anyone at a movie theater with a large pizza and 2-liter soda?" She stares at me like I'm an asshole and says, "I do this all the time. It has never been an issue.
" I say, "no you haven't. No theater on the planet would allow this. They might allow a small item to slide by but this is clearly an exaggeration.
I can refund your tickets and you can eat your pizza elsewhere."
I refund her ticket while she complains about how rude I am and how she's gonna report me to corporate. Blah blah blah. I give her money back and ask her to leave.
I wasn't in the mood for bullshit today.
