So this happened a few months ago, I just found this sub today. :). So my sister's dog was staying with me while her and my BIL were out of town. I adore this dog, her name's Scarlett.

I decided to take her to the park and have a walk since it was a decently nice day.

One thing you should know about our city park is it doesn't have the best reputation. I think a couple of girls got robbed a couple of years back and one got attacked.

Basically you wouldn't want to be there at night, but I've never been nervous to go during the day. I'm a petite female, but I didn't think anything of it.

So Scarlett and I are having a great walk, the sun's out, she's sniffing everything, tail wagging. We come up to this one bend on the walkway, about twenty feet away from an overpass.

And she just... freezes. Every muscle tense, the hackles on her back raised. She lets out this growl that is low and horrifying. Like a "back the fuck up" type growl.

Just for the mental picture- she's a mutt, a mix of some kind of terrier and pit, and she's about thirty pounds. I had never seen her growl or look that scary before.

So she pulls on the leash, just a little to the left, and I take a couple of steps forward, adrenaline rushing. And then I fucking see it. There's a man under the overpass.

Pressed up against the wall, clearly not wanting to be seen. The only reason she saw him first is because she was a few steps ahead of me and at a different angle.

Fuck that. I turned her around and we quickly left. I don't know what he was doing, but she clearly thought he was up to no good.

If I had been walking alone I wouldn't have seen him until I was much closer.
