For starters, I apologize if anything is wrong with this post as it is my first and I'm doing it from the mobile app. And I only recently found out about this from my mom so here goes. This took place probably in late summer 97 or 98 which would have made me either 8 or 9.

For starters, I apologize if anything is wrong with this post as it is my first and I'm doing it from the mobile app. And I only recently found out about this from my mom so here goes.

This took place probably in late summer 97 or 98 which would have made me either 8 or 9.

My mom worked as an over the road truck driver so I stayed with a nanny majority of the time, but on the weekends I was with my mom.

One weekend she was home, she found an ad in the paper for Glamour Shots (yall, this was the 90s so you know). It said to go to such-and-such hotel, blah blah.

Now, I'm not that old at this time. I remember creepy encounters before this point but nothing really clicked this time.

My mom dressed me in a tube top (as the ad requested) with a flannel button up over. She curled my hair and put makeup on me (minimal as I was young and she only did what she thought was appropriate).

I remember it was on a Sunday because my mom took me early in the afternoon knowing that she would have to leave to go back on the road around 6pm or so.

I remember a lady coming in the hotel room to say that they were almost ready for me, that's about it. Soon after, my mom was packing up our things and telling me we had to go.

I was very upset but tried my best to hide it.

So a few weeks ago I was talking to my mom and just mentioned that I was pissed at the time that we couldn't get Glamour Shots, etc.

Her explanation was that someone had come in and tried to separate us, saying they only wanted me for the first photos, etc. She caught bad vibes about it which is why we left.

And a few months later she saw on the news that there was a scam in the area of child molesters under the guise of photographers for Glamour Shots, talent scouting, whatever else,

taking pictures of kids after they'd separated them from their parents. I'm very thankful for my mom's intuition and that she made us leave, even though I didn't appreciate it at the time.
