The old man was looking at the ocean and crying his heart out. Tears of deep distress rolled down from his eyes to the rest of his face. On the horizon, nothing out of the norm.
The deep blue sea, quiet waves, a group of birds dancing in front of the clear sky, and a few white clouds.
It was impossible to tell what he was really looking for on such an ordinary scene — and what could possibly be the reason for so much pain. Perhaps his weeping was precisely for what was missing.
Something that once existed, and vanished. Something the man once loved, and could not keep. A precious remembrance. Now, nothing more than a desolate memory.
