I got this idea from Mandy from A Girl, Obsessed who shared the trends she does not do and Rebecca who did an anti-haul on From Roses. And I love those ideas.
You normally don’t see people commenting on things they don’t enjoy doing or don’t see the point of when it comes to trends.
Or at least, I never see anyone commenting or posting about that sort of thing. So when I saw two of my favorite bloggers share their thoughts on this topic, I wanted to share my own as well.
As I love it!BakingI know why a lot of YouTubers, Bloggers, and Makeup Artists do this trick. It makes makeup last longer, but I honestly just see it as a waste of time and money.
You’re buying loose powder that you put on top of your foundation/concealer then after a few minutes, you just wipe it all away.
And honestly I can just save that money for a good setting spray instead. Plus it gives horrible flash back in photos. So you have to avoid flash photography for the entire day.
Unicorn EverythingI am not a fan of unicorn inspired looks for daily wear. I think it just looks tacky in my opinion. I’m sorry. I know. I just can’t stand it.
If you’re using pastel for an Avant Garde look for Instagram, that’s fine. For your everyday makeup? No.
You just end up looking like you’re trying to be a little girl who broke into her mom’s makeup collection.
Plus the glitter that comes with this trend, you’re just asking for it to get everywhere forever.
Why subject yourself to that torture? And yes I have the Tarte Make Believe in Yourself Palette but I mix the shades from this palette with other palettes to create looks.
Colored EyelinerDon’t get me wrong, I have colored eyeliners that I use if I’m making some kind of Avant Garde look but for a regular, basic,
everyday makeup look this is something I would never do. Sure it is a throwback to the 90s when blue mascara was all the rage, but it doesn’t look flattering on anyone.
The only time I enjoy the look of it is for creative looks or recreations. And that might just be from my days of being emo and wanting only the blackest of black eyeliners.
Blotted LipsI don’t get way anyone would buy products that are supposed to give you the look of having your lipstick worn/smudged off.
ColourPop came out with the Blotted Lippies that give you this look, and I don’t get it. Why would anyone want that? Or buy a lipstick that basically doesn’t apply evenly.
If you know the answer to that, please let me know. I don’t get it.
Feathered EyebrowsI have seen now two YouTubers: Safiya and Corrine give themselves these brows that a bunch of people have been doing on Instagram. But it looks so bad.
Why would you part your eyebrows in half then have them pushed up or down depending on what side of the part they are on so they resemble a feather?
It doesn’t look good on anyone! I get being different and creative but that’s just too much.
Holographic EverythingI know this is something that has been huge as far as packaging lately for beauty products. Example being the newest Anastasia Glow Kit.
And a lot of this comes from Simply Nailogical who basically has coined the term holosexual. I get that it looks pretty but it’s a bit over done in my opinion.
Especially as companies are making their packaging holographic but it has nothing to do with the products inside.
Example being there’s a coffee body scrub that’s in holographic plastic bag but the inside is just a coffee sugar scrub. That doesn’t even remotely look like or give a holographic result.
It just doesn’t make sense and honestly just throws off consumers in my opinion. Are there any beauty trends you’re not a fan of?
