You could look out of the window and watch people passing by but instead you study the rays of the sun softly touching the asphalt, the trees, the birds, the flowers and the water in the fountain. You wish they would touch your fingertips.
You wish you could feel the warmth. But you can't. So you order another coffee and wait for the sun to go down. As the streets empty and your mind starts to fill with thoughts you leave the coffee shop and walk into the darkness. You pass a street filled with people. Their laughter fills the silence, the pain of realizing you're lonely empties your heart.
But it's okay to walk all alone, you tell yourself. There's no danger, the night will take you home.
