I used to dream of happy endings,
Of fairy tales come true,
A love so very boundless,
A joy that's always new.
But I forgot a basic principle,
I got swept up in the lies.
There's a great distinction,
Between fairy tales and life.
We don't have princes,
Nobody sweeps us off our feet,
We don't possess the capability,
To revert a prince from a beast.
Our happy ending look different,
They come in many shapes and sizes,
Not always black and white,
And very rarely are they happy.
But something else I noticed,
Is that we don't need prince charming,
We have the strength within ourselves,
To find a joy that's everlasting.
But if somebody comes along,
With all their scars and imperfections,
Just love them completely,
Any way they are
Life doesn't always offer second chances.
