Poem about my younger brother. This was taken from a journal entry I wrote out of frustration. I was sixteen. He was thirteen. My parents were angry at him about something.

Watching from a distance

A person who takes all the time

Never gives anything in return.

show a little appreciation,

stop taking things for granted.

I believe he can take care of himself,

I believe he can take care of himself, and he understands what goes on around him.

Maybe I overestimated him.

I'm just an outsider now.

My parents try to fix him.

My parents try to fix him. They try to restrict him.

My parents try to fix him. They try to restrict him. They take away his things.

Did they do this to me?

Does he care,

Does he care or is this just how he acts?

Was this how I acted?

One day the time will come,

One day the time will come, hopefully,

One day the time will come, hopefully, he will understand.

For now,

For now, just let him be.
