Lover, I can hear the clock signing in my years, like a child who hears school bells during break.
You wipe the tears in my eyes, your gentle touch reminds me of the slender figures on the dial on my wrist watch.
This time I leave you, I want you to know I've left something behind,
parts of me, parts for you to help you get through the night.
1. My perfume,
My perfume of Rose and tea,
Made in a smooth clear bottle, I think I have the cap of the bottle, perhaps a reminder of how forgetful I am.
Remember the time you looked at me in the crowded platform, our first embrace when you told me I smelled like home?
I hope you use it like a room freshener, spray it around when you feel the distance between us is larger than the distance between the earth and the stars, remember I'm looking up towards you.
2. My collection of poems,
On nights when my words do not provide any comfort to your aching heart, I've dog-eared poems that will read out carefully placed words.
Please remember, my heart can not always provide you comfort but hopefully my words can.
On nights, when I felt the distance between us like the mountains and the waves, I read that book like Bible and prayed to gods in the heavens to bring you home to me.
3. My kohl,
Remember when you look at the blunt tip of my kohl, do not think it is a metaphor for your love for me, but rather think of the eyes they gently lined up.
Think of those eyes that cried for you on nights you couldn't ,
The eyes that hold you on a pedestal higher than any other,
Think of kindness and grace.
4. My comb ,
I know you think it's probably because I want you to fix your messy hair,
But no, I've left you memories, the memories of the nights your delicate strong fingers intertwined perfectly in my hair.
How my hair desperate for your touch, would curl around you, begging you to never let go.
5. My heart,
You don't need to search for it anywhere, it hides in plain sight, with this last tear in my eye that you'll wipe, remember this moment,
remember the girl who loves you like the sky loves the moon, remember the eyes that look at you with only devotion.
Please don't forget I've left my heart on your bed.
