When I got home, I ran upstairs to my bedroom. I laid down on my bed and started crying. Why am I crying for someone who does not feel the same about me?
I rolled over and grabbed the book off my nightstand. I knew it was not worth me lying in bed all night, crying for some guy who does not have feelings for me.
I headed downstairs to the kitchen. I grabbed a glass of ice cold water and went to the porch. I made myself all comfy on the porch swing and begin to read my book.
I could not focus on the mystery novel. James was on replay in my head for how he acted. I just kept replaying it over and over. I wanted it to be a bad nightmare that I would wake from.
After reading the same page about ten times, I heard a car pull into the driveway. I took a quick glance and continued reading my book. I heard the car door open and slam close.
I looked up and there James was. He was carrying a boutique of roses. I could not believe what I was seeing. I fixed my hair and pinched my cheeks. I did not want him to know I was crying.
I know he could tell from my eyes, but hopefully he would overlook them. I stood up and waited for him to reach the porch.
"Hey," I said in a low voice.
"I came by to say I was sorry. I also brought these for you."
I had never received flowers from a man before. They were so beautiful and smelt so good.
"Thank you! They are beautiful. You did not have to do that."
"No, I did. I told you I am a gentleman and when a man messes up, he should bring flowers. So that is exactly what I did."
"Well, I love them!"
I turned around to place the flowers on the side table. I turned back around and gave James a hug. He smelt amazing. I tilted my head up just an inch and our eyes met.
James leaned his head towards me and our lips locked. He had the sweetest kiss and the softest lips. I have been waiting for this day for so long. I never thought this day would come.
"No, don't be. I wanted to do that too."
"Great! I did not want to overstep my boundaries."
"You are fine. I was thinking it and you acted on it. Can we kiss again?"
"You do not even have to ask."
Our lips met again, but only longer this time. He pulled me in closer and held on to me as we kissed.
James and I turned around and saw Allie standing on the front porch steps.
