(Sigh) "Another day at work" I thought to myself as I flicked my cigarette on the ground and put it out with my flip flop clad foot. People are always ragging on me for wearing flip flops. They dont think its appropriate for my line of work. But they suit me just fine I think as I cross out of the area cordoned by yellow tape.

Another Day at work

(Sigh) "Another day at work" I thought to myself as I flicked my cigarette on the ground and put it out with my flip flop clad foot. People are always ragging on me for wearing flip flops.

They dont think its appropriate for my line of work. But they suit me just fine I think as I cross out of the area cordoned by yellow tape.

The man next to me asks "are we just gonna leave it there?" And points to the body on the ground behind us.

"Yep" I reply as I pull a pack of lucky strikes out of the pocket of my Hawaiian shirt and spark it up.

He seemed a little shaken but it was his first day so I couldn't really blame him, he will get used to it.

It wasn't a pretty scenario either the fall was far, but the cause of death was blood loss... Not a quick or painless way to go. But, Ive seen worse.

We walk down the way a bit to the ferry and i pay for his ticket, "here ya go" I said.

"You only bought one though" he says "Aren't you coming?" "Nope, there's still more work to be done today, now go get some rest" I told him. He said "okay" and got on the ferry.

I finished my smoke and proceeded down the street for a while, hands in my pockets whistling a tune.

Crack! The sound of gun fire. "Here we go again I thought" and i made my way to the sound. A young man lay bleeding in and ally. I got to him quickly and he looked up at me in anguish.

I offered him my hand and he grasped it and he seemed relieved that I was there, which is rather unusual in situations like this, most people dont like me.

I stood him up and reached for my strikes. "Can I get one?" The young man asked "sure thing, man" I said and handed him one.

"Lets go" I told him "Hang on" he said "just another minute or so" he stared at his body in the ally for a moment smoked his lucky strike, smiled and said "You arent what I expected.

" "I get that a lot" I said with a smirk. "Shall we?" I asked. "Yeah, I guess" the young man replied.

We walked down the way a bit to the ferry and I pay for his ticket...

(Sigh) "just another day at work"
