This poem is not meant for you.

a song (a song)

like two radios side by side (from different intervals, different keys) keys too flat to turn the lock (a whiplash of discordant disharmony; i speak when you're silent and i silence when you speak)

they wince and brittle and cannot focus (but your song, it ends; and mine is empty, alone, unsure) and then one begins again, and we carry on

like two nightingales singing (against each current, of the wind, of the waves)—like a hopeful silver voice, and! a response, an answer; a voice that sings (a voice that sings back)

a voice that sings (a voice who does not sing to you)
