Twilight, the merging of two realms into one. A quiet, serene time for relaxation. A time to enjoy with lovers, family, or companions.
Those that fear the darkness of the Night have mistaken the Twilight for times of fear, dread... terror, but their worries are far misplaced.
The Entities that dwell in the Twilight hours are understanding, reassuring, and calm, offering the embrace of a gentle mother.
"Kiara, why do they hate me?" the young girl sniffled, wiping away her tears with the sleeve of her dress.
Tears spilled down cheeks still plump with baby fat, molten gold eyes glistening liquidly up at the Mother of Angels.
My sweet child, they do not hate you. They merely fear that which they don't understand. A whisper of a hand brushed the child's cheek, wiping away the tears.
Kiara knelt, obsidian wings enveloping them both in a blanket of comfort, warm security. Beloved Candle, it may be a lonely road we walk, but we must.
That is the purpose of those blessed by the Twilight.
With a quivering lower lip, Candle crawled into Kiara's soft embrace, her small hands clutching the midnight fabric robes adorning the Angel.
She knew Kiara was speaking the truth, knew this was her true calling to guide those lost in the pitch darkness or blinding light to safety, to healing.
"Do I always have to walk alone?" her tiny voice cracked with emotion, with loneliness. "Why can't Archias walk with me? Or Arya?"
My dearest Candle, you know the answers to your questions. Archias, despite his change of heart, is still an Entity of the Night.
Arya is the Moonlit Maiden, and so she guides those lost in the darkness of Night. Kiara's hand soothingly stroked Candle's pale blonde hair.
You are my little Candle, the healing Entity of Twilight. You walk the path between Day and Night.
Candle rubbed her eyes with small fists, wiping away the tears. "I just want a friend, Kiara. I don't want to walk alone either. I don't want them to hate me."
Then walk with those lost in Twilight. Be their guiding flame through the realms.
"What if they don't want my help?"
Then be there for them when they do, beloved Candle.
The child burrowed deeper into Kiara's warm embrace, her fear and self-doubt slowly trickling away with each wise word.
Kiara always did have a gift for calming Candle during these difficult times. Candle took a deep breath and pulled away, wiping her cheeks with the sleeve of her dress.
She had to be there for those still lost in the Twilight, wandering between Day and Night. Even if they feared or hated her, she had to be there for them.
"Ok, I think I'm ready," she proclaimed, puffing her chest out with a bit of childish bravado, the smile returning to her youthful face.
The glow emanating from Candle brightened once more, a soft and inviting light to guide those in need.
Kiara smiled lovingly as she rose back to her feet, holding her hand out to the small child. I'm proud of you, dearest child. Perhaps I can walk with you this night if only this night.
She was surprised at the shaking of Candle's head, smiling at the spark of determination in the child's bright eyes.
"I can do it, Kiara! I promise!" Candle remarked enthusiastically before spinning on her heel to march back into the darkness.
Kiara silently watched Candle disappear into the darkness, tranquil and serene. I know you can. Her mind whispered after the child. She never doubted in the young Entity's abilities.
