Just before I had to step out, I stopped.

Mirror

Just before I had to step out,

Just before I had to step out, I stopped.

Just before I had to step out, I stopped. I turned towards the mirror,

Just before I had to step out, I stopped. I turned towards the mirror, to check out.

I moved closer,

and closer,

until I was facing...

until I was facing... a face so fresh,

until I was facing... a face so fresh, but eyes so weird,

gazing!

And it formed an infinite loop,

And it formed an infinite loop, in that pupil.

I felt like falling in a whirlpool,

and trapped in a chain of scruples.

"I'm still not ready",

"I'm still not ready", was all I thought.

I peeked out of the window,

I peeked out of the window, feeling all edgy and distraught.

"Will they accept me,

"Will they accept me, with all my flaws?

"Will they accept me, with all my flaws? and celebrate all the love I gave to myself,

and all my hard work, high and falls?"

"But why do you really need that validity,

"But why do you really need that validity, when you know your own story that they do not?"

The reflection suddenly answered me back,

The reflection suddenly answered me back, And I saw that sparkling eyes as I caught that thought.

And taking a deep breath,

And taking a deep breath, I stood tall.

And taking a deep breath, I stood tall. It was finally a moment,

And taking a deep breath, I stood tall. It was finally a moment, of my curtain call.

And here I was,

And here I was, ready to get out of the cocoon,

And here I was, ready to get out of the cocoon, A last look at the mirror,

And here I was, ready to get out of the cocoon, A last look at the mirror, ready to shine out soon.

All I needed was one step,

All I needed was one step, and a head held high,

To see the bright sun of hopes and opportunities,

To see the bright sun of hopes and opportunities, And my new butterfly wings,

ready to fly.
