Ramblings of a Delusional Seventeen Year Old

Ever since the day we met,

I've been holding tight to a spark of regret

Yet here still I sit,

Pretending there's a chance you'll truly commit

But I suppose I play a good fool

Squiriming under the weight of your rule

So play me like an instrument of your will,

Till you choose to find me old and shrill

Then toss me out like all the rest,

Like you'd do a war torn vest

After I'm gone, the winters will still be long

The world will still sing it's cruel, shrieking song

Nothing changes truly, it's all in our head

We just shape our minds to block out the dread

So I suppose the reason I'm so attached to you

Is because you're the one who painted my sky such a beautiful hue
