This is the story of she who chose to fly
I was there, just watching
As she built her wings from words, so strong, love, so deep, and vision, so real.
I stood there, just watching
As she called out to the birds and dared the wind to stop
I stood there, watching
All the arrows that pierced her heart, she plucked them and made an armour out of them
And I just stood there, watching
As she looked me in the eye, and asked me to fly with her.
But I just stood there, watching
As she played with fear and then tossed it aside, as she rose to the sky where the sun was waiting, just for her,
I stood, watching
As she escaped what I wanted to, with the courage I never had, the power I could never summon, a shield I could never build, arrows that were still there, poking through my veins, now home- but not immune- to every shred of doubt thrown at me,
But I stood there, just watching
As she flew away with freedom, laughing like we never saw on the ground,
As I stood there, just watching.
