The Human Race

by _emotrash_

We're all made of such ugly things

And with all that ugliness brings

Hatred that is so powerful

How are ugly creatures meant to be beautiful

Yet everyone is so focused on looks

Never on what you can learn from books

Pretty girls are made of dead things

Rotting flowers and wind that sings

Handsome boys' blood runs sour

Thickening by the hour

Lovely things are so spoiled

Skin is hot, blood is boiled

Broken are pretty hearts

Pretty pretty heart restarts

Broken smiles, pasted on faces

Lethal lies and pretty arms races

Stars burn out far too quickly

Guarded hearts are often prickly

When broken girls learn to love again

The rest is just coloring in

We live in a world of black and white

Your color defines the worth of your light

Running is your best option

When your life is viewed just as your skin

Dark and macabre are two words that come to mind for this merry little jingle. Have you thought of putting a tune to this and making a Christmas carol? It is very well written your use of the images to amplify your central theme are stunning. I think you know that you are a talented writer. I enjoyed this piece of work.
