"i'm your boyfriend." at those words, you startle. 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘩𝘦'𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘰.. 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘥𝘪𝘥 𝘪 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘰 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘣𝘰𝘺𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥? not to mention, with his looks, there's no way he doesn't have a horde of fangirls. "we went to the same high school," he said. " and we started dating in our first year. do you-" he breaks off, and even though you barely kow him, you can tell that he's not usually this vulnerable.
the hard line of his jaw is set in a way that communicates determination almost to the point of arrogance, but right now, he's anything but that. "do you not remember?" slowly, you shake your head. "i'm sorry." the words sound empty. he clenches his fists, thinking of hitting something again, but instead, he just closes his eyes tight, looking like he'd rather be anywhere but here right now. you don't blame him.
the two of you just sit in silence for a while, and you try to think of what to say. "could you.. tell me what i'm missing?" you try, then cringe at how insensitive that sounds. "i mean, you don't have to-" his hands spark, you stop talking. "your hands," you manage after a stunned silence. "they-" you started. "that's my quirk." yo watch at the sparks from his hands die down, until a thin trail of smoke rises from his fingers.
he leans back against the seat, smoke still occasionally trailing from his fists, and stares fixedly out the window. you look anywhere in the room but at him. finally, he breaks the silence again. and his voice, although still pained, is less rough around the edges. "this was my fault." automatically, you start to tell him that it wasn't, but he cuts you off with a single look. "let me finish. you don't know what happened."
he inhales, and when he starts speaking again, his voice is steady. "we meet at yuuei一the school renowned for it's hero course. we were i the same class. to be honest, you didn't stand out to me at first. you were just another obstacle for me to climb over my path to becoming the number one hero." he glances away from you, and with the movement of his head, something glints at his neck.
a silver chain disappears down his shirt. "but then was the sports festival. i admit, you were the best one there, and it wasn't just raw power. you were so 𝘥𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘥 to take the top spot. ad when you fought me, i could you weren't about to give up. i respected that about you." he looks back at you. you're aware of the fact that you hair is probably messy, you're only wearing a gown, and has a bandage on.
still. he looks at you like he only sees the girl who he's talking about, the girl who sounds so amazing and who he's clearly fallen hard for. it's painful to admit to yourself that you don't know who he is. "after a while, i had asked you out. i've still got no clue why you agreed to be my girlfriend but, it's probably the best thing that's happened to me. fast forward to our third year, then we graduated."
here, almost unconsciously, he reaches up to the chain around his neck. he draws it out from under his shirt and twists it around his, and you realise that there's a simple metal bar at the end of it with just two letters一your initials. your chest clenches. "now we're interning under different people, but a couple of days ago, there was a massive villain attack, and we were both sent there. you got injured.."
smoke starts to rise more steadily from his palms, and he let's go of the metal bar. "i wasn't fast enough.." silence for while, then you break it. "i wasn't your fault." he looks like he's going to protest, but you interrupt him, something taking over you that you can't explain. the words come out of mouth with no filter. "kiss me." he blinks. it's funny how you seem to barely know this guy but his expressions are easy to read.
right now, it's just surprise, longing, and lingering traces of pain. "kiss you?" he repeats, apparently too stunned to say much else. "you barely know me right now." you can feel the heat rushing up to your cheeks, but push onwards, because even though you don't know everything about this guy right now, you can tell there's something about him that you don't want to lose. "i don't care. just-"
he cuts you off by pressing his lips against yours, and in that moment, you're certain that you know him, you know him, you know him. you have no memories of any of the events that he spoke of, but your lips know his. and they know how to move against his an dwhn his arms encircle your waist, yours reah up towards him and sling themselves around his neck like you've done this a million times in a million different memories.
you seperate, and although you're still disoriented, he's an anchor. "i know you," you sai, and at that the pain in his eyes seems to lessen. "pro hero, bakugou katsuki." at that, he actually smiles, and before his lips touch yours again, he utters a few words to you. "that's katsuki to you." you're lost to him.
