"gosh dang it!" you whisper shout, cupping your right hand in your left. you had been having a pretty bad day, even the cut you had accidentally given yourself seemed to be enough to push you over the edge. that day was exams day, and you knew that you did terrible, as you couldn't seem to keep you focus whatsoever. to that, on the way home, you went to grab some ice cream, but the shop was closed!
so this small cut on your palm broke you to pieces. you began to to cry. your house was deserted, as both your parents were currently at work, and you felt so alone. you fumbled around for your phone, then went to the call icon. you looked through the contacts to find someone to talk to, anyone to call. your only real friends were the boys on the volleyball team, which definitely limited your options.
there was noya, tanaka and hinata, who would probably kill someone if they found out you were sad. there was the third years, who would probably overreact and baby you. then there was the second year extras who you weren't particularly close with. the only person you had in mind was, haiba. you had actually been dating him for a few months, but you didn't wanna burden him with anything stupid.
your shaky finger hovered over the middle blocker's contact, contemplating on whether or not calling was a good idea. but like i said, your finger was shaking so it jolted down and clicked the button without your permission. "shoot." you whispered as the phone rang. you were just about to press the red button to end the call, but the ringing stopped. he had picked up the phone. "what?" he asked.
you tried to speak but words didn't come out. you slammed your phone down on the counter and ran your fingers through your hair. "dang it!" you shouted through tears, before reaching over and hitting the end call button on your phone. you felt weak. like you couldn't do anything whatsoever. you fell to the floor, pressing your knees up against your forehead.
"what?" lev asked as he answered a call from you. he got no response and was about to say something else, when he realized you were crying. just as quickly as he made this realization, there was a loud bang from the other side of the line, then the sound of the crying got louder. "r/n? what going on over there?" he asked, which clearly wasn't heard.
then quite abruptly, the phone hasn't up and he was left in silence. "crap, r/n!" he yelled before throwing on his shoes and exiting his house. your muffled stove echoed through the house, as you kept thinking how terrible the day had been and how lonely you are. you were mentally scolding yourself for being a big baby about the whole thing, but you just couldn't stop the tears from falling.
you were having a complete breakdown. so lost in thought, you didn't hear your front door open. "r/n.." you heard. your eyes immediately shot up to the tall figure staying in front you. he came. you were so happy that you weren't alone anymore, that you couldn't help yourself. you stood up quickly and bolted over to the boy, throwing your arms around him. you pulled back after a split second, embarrassed.
haiba wasn't exactly the one who enjoyed physical contact, and you just hugged him.. a lot. "sorry." you whispered, wiping your nose. you weren't exactly expecting what came next. he took a step forward and 𝘩𝘶𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘥.. 𝘺𝘰𝘶. "it's okay." he said as you wrapped your arms around him. you didn't question it in the slightest, you just stood there, trying your best to stop crying. it took you a bit to calm yourself.
when you did, you simply pulled away and walked right past him, into your room where you pulled the door shut. 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘨. 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘴𝘢𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘻𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘪 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘶𝘱𝘴𝘦𝘵? 𝘢 𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘤𝘶𝘵? you laid down in your bed, facign the ceiling while trying to keep yourself from crying again. you didn't know if the boy was still out there or if he had gone home, but you just silently prayed that he left.
and just like that, your door opened slowly, and your tall boyfriend came in. "what was that?" he asked, leaning against the door frame. "i-it was nothing. i got all worked up over nothing, and it's embarrassing." you said, starting straight at the ceiling, trying your hardest not to cry. "and what was it?" he asked. "i did terrible on my test, and i cut myhand, i was alone, and it's just too much." you explained.
tears fall from your eyes. "it's so stupid!" you burst into tears. "i don't think it's stupid." everyone has their breaking point." he replied simply. you closed your eyes in attempt to calm down once again, when you felt a weight in the bed next to you. you looked over and saw haiba sitting down beside you, facing forward. "if anything, it's pretty normal with how much stress you've been under lately." he said.
you looked at him with the greatest smile you could muster, but it was more sad than anything. you were just about to look back at the ceiling, when he stuck his arm out at you. you were confused for a moment, before he waved you over him. you sat up and crawled closer, and wrapped his extended arm around you. you grabbed hold of his other hand and rested your head on his shoulder.
"thank you." you whispered. he simply hummed in response as you felt your eyes beginning to close. that night you fell asleep, feeling calm and even happy. haiba definitely was a salty person, hut if he loved you enough, he could be a lot more than that. and he definitely loved you enough.
