It was ‎summer, but it felt like winter inside the hallways, since everybody was cuddling their heads.‎\n‎“Gloomy weather, closed doors, ..., concealed hands, foggy breaths, weary and ‎heavy hearts, melancholic earth, low court ceiling”!‎\nTwo young boys were few meters away, one sitting on a chair next to his parents, the other ‎leaning against the dirty gray wall. Both were in handcuffs. They were of the same height and ‎age, filled with youthful pride and covered with a veil of sadness that did not suit their sprightly ‎faces. The sitting boy had a handcuff on his hands, the other handcuffed to a private probably ‎just a few years older than him.‎\nThe one on the chair had hung his head down. Every once in a while a man in a dark suit and ‎light shirt buttoned to the top, tilted his head, and consoled the boy and his parents. The ‎movement of his hands on the air imparted a pleasant fragrance that ran counter to the ‎atmosphere, colors, and darkness. The boy who was standing had leaned his head against the ‎wall, staring at the low ceiling of the court’s hallway.‎\nEvery few meters a door split the interminable and elongated walls. One of the doors opened. ‎The chief court clerk called a name and the smartly dressed man gestured toward the boy and his ‎parents and asked them to enter before him. He asked permission before entering the room.‎\nA few moments later, another door was opened and a name was called. The private led the boy ‎toward that door.‎\n‎2.‎\t‎    ‎\nBoth had committed larceny. Their names were Afshar and Alireza. They had never met before, ‎for one of them had been born in an affluent neighborhood but the other in a poor one. Yet they ‎were the same age! One had stolen a thousand-dollar antique necklace at a party and the other ‎had mugged a pedestrian for seventy thousand tomans. First boy’s father was a dentist and his ‎mother was a professor at the University of Law. The other boy’s father was dead and his mother ‎was working as a maid. They had committed larceny for different reasons, one for the fun of it ‎while the other to supply his mother’s surgery. One had committed that stealthily while the other ‎jad done it in public. One did not have to draw out his Swiss Army knife because everybody else ‎was having dinner, whereas the other had threatened a pedestrian and drawn out his knife since ‎the victim had refused to hand over his money. One was stylish, while the other was ragged. One ‎was stuffed while the other was starved.‎\nBoth were young, feeling regretful for their foolish acts. Both of their complainants had dropped ‎the charges.‎\nOne was sentenced to six-month imprisonment ‎, but the judge decided that perpetrator would be ‎corrected without punishment ‎ since the sharpdressed, stuffed, young boy who had been born in ‎the affluent neighborhood had had no criminal records. His sentence was issued: exemption from ‎penalty. The boy went back home with his parents.‎\nThe other was sentenced to capital punishment instead of one to five years of imprisonment ‎, for ‎he had drawn out a weapon to take another person’s property ‎, caused public intimidation, and ‎threatened public safety, so he was taken to Honarmandan Park for capital punishment.‎\nOne put his head on his mother’s shoulder and shed tears of joy, while the other put his head on ‎his executioner’s shoulder and shed tears of horror, since they had received a necklace of flowers ‎and a hanging rope around their necks, respectively.‎\nYes... It was winter in the middle of the scorching summer
